This is a great tool which serves as a road map. I also use this as a motivational tool. I have print out of this plan then I stick a star for every workout schedule I finishes. Also, I have reward system that is based on this plan.

Congrats on starting running, it's such a useful activity. It's not only good for physical health, but I often use my time running to unwind after work or just to ponder whatever is in my head.
Running definitely helped me stop smoking too. I felt like crap when I was running, and when I was smoking I'd remember how crappy I felt when I was running! Basically I had to make a choice between running and smoking; I chose the cheaper one :)
Good luck with your program, and don't forget to check out various forums and stuff for tips and motivation!

Thanks for sharing your experiences... i agree that smoking and running doesn't go well together.. I'm so glad to meet people like you who have gave up smoking for running,...It just make it easier for me to quit... thanks for the inspiration
