Day 6

The walk to run program for beginners assignment for day 6 is to WALK 5mins, RUN 1min, total 17mins, then WALK 5mins. I had plenty of energy during the run, so it was a pretty easy run. I do get good days and bad day. Fortunately, today is a good day. And please don't loose sight of your plan during bad days. Most often than not, you'll be much happier you stick with your plan during those bad days.

Day 5

A walking schedule is good for newbies like me. Because it doesn't require much of you. sometimes i just get overwhelmed when you have to train hard everyday.

for day 5, i walked around the city with my sunglasses. Yup, the sun is up right now. After few weeks of rain, it's nice to see the sun once again.

Day 4

4th day of the beginner's walk to run program.
Today I did the 5min walk, 1 min run for 17 minutes, and 5min cool down. To beat boredom I did include punches while running. It was quite good actually. At first I'm afraid that I would fall on the treadmill by extending some jabs but I didn't. I actually like it. In the beginning, I tried punching slowly, but when I increased my punching speed things got easier. I believe I was breathing more but I didn't noticed the time. Time went buy faster.

To avoid boredom, try incorporating other activities such as punching something or do the weight training exercise like dumbell curl. You can try this even without the dumbell. Just exert pressure when you contract those muscles. It's like having a make believe dumbell. Specially for newbies like me using a treadmill because you may not be able to immediately control slow down the speed if your holding a dumbell.

Day 3

It's a walking plan for day 3. I walked for 15 mins at a various pace. It' really nice cause I was sort of stressed prior to my work out. But thanks to the podcast I was listening to, I somehow understand what I was feeling and why I was acting in certain way.

Yeah, I'm really greatful for my ipod specially during workout sessions. Basically, I have these different compilations of audiobboks, songs, and podcast. There was even a time that I was so entertained from an audiobook that I extended my running time for an hour. Right now, I'm particularly looking for Haruki Murakami's new book, "What I talk about when I talk about running".

Well, that's all folks.

Day 2

I finished my run at around 10pm. I'm not so much a morning runner cause I really don't have the ability to wake up in the morning. I did tried running in the morning. Maybe its just me but I don't have the energy in the morning. When I tried it, I ran slower and fewer distance. But I really want to change that.Cause when you tend to put running as the last thing you do in a day, certain things happen. Unexpected stuff can just come up and you end up not running. Plus, after I ran I usually can't get to sleep. And its frustrating.

Anyway, I'm so happy today. You see I used my new shoes.Yup new shoes, since I'm such a so noob runner, I like the motivation of new shoes. The plan for today is to walk for 5 mins and run for 1 min alternately until I reach 17 min, then walk for 5 mins again. So I did 3 sets of walk 5mins and run 1min then 5 min cool down.

By the way I'll be posting my saved run from Nike so that you'll know that I'm not just creating things. I'm not the kind of blogger who just copy or re-write an article. I'm a true person, not an imaginary blogger.

Well, I really do wish that I reach my goal and hopefully record everything about it. So that one day I can look back and say that it is possible.

Why I Run

Why I Run

Perhaps, people who knew me will find it surprising why I took up running.WHY? because I'm not really an athletic person. I smoke a lot. I'm not in the greatest shape.

So why do I run. At first, it was to loose some weight. So we bought a treadmill and it all started there. Although, my first attempt was not that successful. I easily lost interest after I missed couple of runs. but i did learn a lot from that. One is I really love getting the runner's high. It always happened after every run which is quite nice. I get this feeling of being hyper or feeling alert after every run. And I can easily laugh after a run. You get these boost of positivity. And I really like it a lot. That is something I really look forward to when running. Another huge lesson is not to over train myself. Sometime it gets to tempting to top off your previous run or setting a new personal record(PR). But in the long run it's not good for you. You end up fatigue and doesn't allow your muscles to recover. Once I hit fatigue, I tend to cut off running schedules. I rationalized that I did overworked myself, so why not miss a day. then a day becomes 2 days, which then turns to a week. After that you loose your sense of habit and eventually you spend more days resting than running.

Another reason why I love running is it can cost you nothing. You can wear your old rubber shoes and just put your right foot ahead of your left food then alternate. It is so simple and cost almost nothing. Eventually, when you have come to love running, you would want to purchase a good pair of shoes.

It also made me seriously think to put a stop on smoking. Because, it limits the amount of oxygen I can take. Who knows, this may be my answer to quitting.

If you would ask me 2 years ago, if I would like to run or jog. I would have laugh at your face. But believe me you have to experience running to know that falling in love with running is not a hard thing to do. Even though I'm a so noob runner, it's simple to find out why I love to run

Day 1

I am following a plan for walk-run program.... I got the plan from a runner's book which I got cheap since it was on sale. First, I noticed that the plan I am following is the same as the plan being used by nike+ in their website.

By the way, I'm using the nike ipod kit to record my runs. It's really a good tool for so noob runners like me. I'll tell you more about this in another post. Right now, I just want to update you guys on how I did my my day 1. So here's the adventure of a so noob runner on her first day.

To start, the plan said to walk for 15mins for day 1. I actually did 30mins. I woke up late so I just fit the walk in my schedule. You see, I had to do some errands, and instead of riding I just walk all the way to where I'm supposed to go. So it took me about 30 minutes to get there.

The first thing I noticed that my left foot hurts. And it was not that muscle is aching, but you know the feeling you have when wearing those thick soled shoes. So while walking I thought of buying a new rubber shoes. Damn the credit card and 50% off sale. I was tempted to buy one. But anyhow, I guess it will motivate me more to really follow through on my running, after all I even bought new shoes. Well, I got a Nike+ Air Zoom Verday which allowed me to insert the nike kit inside the sole.Yehey.

I did the plan. But I wasn't too happy with my diet today. I had no lunch, and bought a burger for lunch, and eat some rice in the evening. Well, tomorrow is another right.
